ENGLAND’S DOUBLE GLORY AT CHELTENHAM

25-10-2006

The fine form of leading amateur jockey David England continues as he clocks up a double at Cheltenham for guv’nor Nigel Twiston-Davies to take his tally to 11 so far this season, with a career total of 19.

David just can’t stop riding winners! After a treble at Market Rasen (a great achievement for an amateur), he has enjoyed a double at Worcester, wins at Chepstow and Aintree and now a Cheltenham double! Don’t forget that this is particularly significant for David, as he broke two vertebrae last summer whilst representing Great Britain in a Fegentri invitation race in Quakenbruck, Germany, and had to be flown home on a stretcher. His patience in having to lie flat and wait for his body to mend has paid off. That long break of seven months from the saddle tried David’s patience and so it is especially pleasing to see him now riding out of his skin.

Ardaghey’s Cheltenham win is the biggest so far in David’s career, but no win could have been more facile for him than Imperial Commander in the bumper who was mighty impressive and put in a bold front running performance from start to finish. Many congratulations David!
